THERE ARE THREE basic essentials to remember when we explain how easy Social Media Marketing is, to help promote your business.
Most of what's being hawked around the web is utter garbage, trying to get busy business operators to part with their hard earned money.
That's why I've made up this simple explanation for you... just a few minutes’ read, to clear all this up.
- THE PRIME GOAL. The prime goal — many would say the ONLY goal — is to get people to your website. Not collecting Likes, Followers, Retweets and all that stuff.
Your website is as big as you want to make it. Nothing else, anywhere, contains as much of your info, products, services, testimonials and special offers... all in one place.
It's not only a brochure for your business, but also a place where you can interact with your prospective clients. - THE CRUCIAL SYSTEM. Because the prime goal is to get more people to your website, you need a system to do exactly that.
It's crucial because without it, you'll have built your website for nothing.
The old saying, "Build it and they will come" was a lie when it was first uttered in the 1990s, and it's still a lie to day.
Your system must also be effective, easy, and excellent value-for-money. Free is even better. - YOUR WEBSITE MUST BE UP-TO-DATE. Even if your website is only a couple of years old, there are minimum requirements for it to play its part properly, in your Social Media Marketing campaigns.
The internet changes rapidly, constantly. Your website needs to keep abreast of these changes.
The Prime Goal
You get people to visit your website by attractbng there attention. You attract their attention by putting material "out there" that interests them.
When there interest motivates them to find out more, they are brought to your website. It's that simple.
There are many places that make up this "out there":
- Social Media destinations like Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter and many, many more
- Pay-per-click items like Google Adwords, Facebook Paid Ads, Yahoo!/Bing Ads from Microsoft, Amazon Product Ads, 7Search and once again, many more. Google Adwords is the main one.
- Video platforms like YouTube and Vimeo
- A large assortment of blogs and article directories
The Crucial System
The Crucial System in using Social Media to bring more visitors to your website is like a set of links which form a chain.
It starts on your website, links to your Facebook Page, then on to Facebook Groups, then finall back to your website.
We call this system the Social Media Chain.
The Biggest Player by Far
Facebook is by far the biggest player out of all Social Media platforms.
And the most powerful part of Facebook is its Facebook Groups.
Not its Facebook Pages, although you do need a Facebook Page for your business identity.
Here's why Facebook Groups are the most powerful sources for new visitors to your website:
- Most importantly, they are made up of people who have a driving interest, even a passion, for a specific interest.
- When you share something into a collection of these Facebook Groups, your item is presented to a very large number of enthusiasts.
For example, whenever I share an article from one of my clients, Global Flavors, it appears in the Facebook feeds of over 125,000 people.
They are all Home Distilling enthusiasts. They like to buy flavors that make their alcohol taste like Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Southern Comfort and the like. - Joining and sharing into Facebook Groups is free.
How to Make Best Use of Facebook Groups
- Publish a post (an article) in your website's Blog
- Every time someone clicks or taps on the article to read it, they are taken to your own website to read it.
- Using Global Flavors again as an example, on the days I don't publish an article, the website's visitors range from 100+ per day. Any day I publish an article and share it into our set of Facebook Groups, the number of visitors jumps to 1000 to 1500.
See how this can benefit your business?
Why Your Website Needs to be Up-to-Date
There's no use bringing new people to your website if you can't show them how to use your products or serices. Now that you have them on your website, you need to get them to do business with you.
There are a few minimum requirements to make use of all these new visitors to your website:
- A Blog where you can publish material to share though Facebook Groups
- Well placed attention-grabbing links IN your blog article and throughout your website, to your products and services, shopping cart and special offers
- Your website must confirm to Google's minimum standards for mobile phone viewing, search engine requirements and page display
